Description

VARANA is an international meeting which is part of the International School of Mathematics «Guido Stampacchia», founded by Guido Stampacchia and Franco Giannessi and now directed by Giuseppe Buttazzo and Michel Théra. It is hosted by the "The Ettore Majorana Foundation and Centre for Scientific Culture", Erice, Italy, and holds every 3 years. The 2024 edition of VARANA (Variational Analysis and Applications) is directed by Marianne Akian, Michael Hintermüller, and Franco Tomarelli. The aim of the workshop is to present state-of-the-art and current research directions in variational analysis and variational calculus. The International Gold Medal “Guido Stampacchia” Prize will be awarded by the "Unione Matematica Italiana " (UMI) during the opening ceremony of VARANA. This medal is awarded to a scholar who has carried out significant research in the field of Variational Analysis and its Applications and that, at the end of the year in which the call is issued, has not completed 35 years.

The total fee is of 150  Eur per day, which includes:

  • Accomodation (including breakfast) in Center "E. Majorana"

  • Full Lunch and Dinner all days (drinks excluded), in selected Erice restaurants 

  • Social dinner
